My immediate goal is to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, with an expected graduation date of March 2025. Continuing my education is fundamental as it will provide a solid foundation for my clinical expertise and prepare me for further specialization.

Between graduation and December 2026, I aim to earn certifications relevant to my role as a cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) nurse. Specifically, I plan to acquire the Adult Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification and the Cardiac Surgery Certification (CSC). These certifications will enhance my clinical competence and credibility in managing critically ill cardiac patients.

What is your long-term professional objective?

By December 2028, I intend to become certified in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and develop into a proficient leader within my unit. Since my current hospital is the only ECMO-certified center within a 200-mile radius, obtaining this certification will position me uniquely to contribute to critical care advancements and patient outcomes in the region.

I am currently enrolled at Western Governors University and expect to graduate with my BSN by March 2025. Upon graduation, my plan is to prepare for CCRN certification first, given its relevance to adult critical care, followed by the CSC.

By advancing my knowledge and leadership capabilities, I will contribute positively to the culture of my unit, improve patient outcomes, and provide exemplary care to patients and their families.

• AMNH (Advanced Molecular and Nursing Healthcare):
  This certification deepened my understanding of genetics and ethics, highlighting their evolving roles in patient care. It has enhanced my ability to gather comprehensive patient histories, including family genetic information, which informs personalized care and preventive strategies.

• ELNEC (End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium):
  I found this certification invaluable, especially given the frequency of death and end-of-life care in ICU settings. It reinforced the importance of compassionate advocacy for patients’ wishes, dignity, and comfort during life’s final stages, an aspect I hold deeply personal and central to my nursing philosophy.

• Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Nursing Education (SOGINE):
  This course increased my awareness of potential biases and barriers faced by LGBTQ+ patients. It provided strategies to build trust and create a welcoming environment that promotes equitable and respectful care.
