Introduction

Nurses are accountable for maintaining both individual and social health. These obligations serve to further the professional objective of maintaining, promoting, and regaining health. In spite of the severe challenges, nurses throughout the ages and across the globe have been committed to improving society’s health. These challenges include the disrespect for women, racism, the dehumanization of the poor, war expediencies, and a lack of understanding of the causes of illness in societal contexts. Pioneering nurses were aware of how many healthcare issues were ingrained in society’s structure (Josi & Bianchi, 2019).Advanced Practice Nurses are the vital part of the healthcare team since it helps in minimizing the challenges and improve the healthcare workplace productivity and efficiencies. According to studies examining the primary care delivered by APNs, it is of a level of effectiveness and safety comparable to that of medical treatment. APNs in this environment are trained generalists with a variety of expertise to provide a broad range of care in order to meet primary care demands (Woo et al., 2017).

Advance Practice nurses are significant to the healthcare sector because they provide many patients and their families with fresh approaches to high-quality care at a decent cost. They frequently offer medical care to underserved groups of people. Advanced practice nurses need a solid theoretical and empirical foundation for their clinical practice. While they collaborate with doctors, they must be equipped to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication for patients with acute and chronic illnesses. These duties call for nursing professionals who are as clever and observant the way they are sensitive and caring (Gysin et al., 2019). 

The objectives of this study are to reveal the effect of access, quality, and cost on advanced practice registered nursing, highlight Advanced practice nursing performance standards or issues with evidence, and Prepare plans to increase the effect of Advanced practice nurses in patient care, teaching, research, administration, and advocacy or policy.

Scope of the Study

Health care performance measurement is widespread and complex. Advanced practice nurses (APNs) can expect to add their performance evaluated regardless of the provider, the geographic location, the environment, the organization, the stakeholder, or the payer. Along with other people and entities, advanced practice nurses must show how their actions achieve the triple goals of enhancing patient and family care experiences, enhancing population health, and lowering per-person healthcare expenditures. According to Whittington, Nolan, Lewis, and Torres (2015), the triple goals are a crucial component of US policies to enhance healthcare and health outcomes. These goals offer a framework for national and state initiatives, as well as the activities of regulating, credentialing, and accreditation organizations at all levels that have an impact on how health care is organized, delivered and paid for. Individual patients and families are encouraged to participate in care planning and ensuring they receive high-quality, safe treatment in order to increase patient engagement and improve care experiences (Rosa et al., 2020). Providers and communities are required to change how services are organized and delivered in order to enhance health outcomes. Care providers and payers are working on more cost-effective interventions and payment reforms to lower the cost of healthcare. Structures for reimbursement are also changing. These objectives are affected by a number of developments that are partly related to the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the ensuing administrative and policy changes (Sichieri & Regina Secoli, 2022).

In light of the pressures on the healthcare system, it is imperative that nurses’ voices and APNs’ leadership are heard in order to fulfill our professional and societal commitments to promote health and healthcare. APNs are in a unique position to bring important knowledge, abilities, and attitudes to the political and decision-making process, as well as their civic professionalism and compassion ideals. The goal of the healthcare system is to continuously reduce the consequences and costs of disease, injury, and disability while also enhancing Americans’ well-being and ability to perform. Although influencing the direct care given by others and giving direct care yourself are important tasks and help you achieve this aim, they are insufficient to meet the demands for quality and accountability that society and the professional world are placing on you (Spetz et al., 2022).

Responsibility for and accountability to self and others for the systems, procedures, and results of healthcare rise proportionately as the nurse advances from novice to expert. APN status is not a final destination, as the role entails continual and growing societal and professional responsibilities. As a key factor contributing at the level of individual care, in the practice setting, and at the tables where organizational and governmental policies are established and implemented, the APN is responsible for helping the profession and society fulfill the triple purposes (Sánchez-Gómez et al., 2019).Additionally, the APN is required to make significant contributions beyond providing care for individual patients in order to fulfill the goals of the healthcare system due to the professional and societal trust placed in the organization. To ensure that their voices are heard, advanced practice nurses must not only do good deeds but also demonstrate their worth to society through performance evaluation, documentation, and communication at every level of care and decision-making. It is difficult to undervalue or dismiss the significance to health outcomes, the profession, and society (Serena et al., 2018).

Accountability Importance in Nursing

Why is it important for APNs to worry about these problems? More than 130 million results were returned when the terms accountability and health care were searched online. This illustrates how crucial this problem is to our culture. The investigation found that the government, employers, insurers, professional provider associations, and purchasers/payers are all interested in health care’s value and accountability for its prices and quality. Despite the fact that there has always been a need for accountability for the value of healthcare, increased complexity and changes in the health-care (Yip, 2021).

The Context for Quality in Nursing

All system participants must be accountable for finding and enhancing the structures and processes for obtaining positive results if the health care system is to reduce the impact and burden of illnesses, injuries, and disabilities and improve outcomes and functioning. Consumers and society are not receiving what they want or need from the healthcare system, as per research. Errors continue to occur, and concerns with patient care experiences and outcomes continue to exist (Rovito & Fagan, 2022).

Analysis

From the data provided above, the analysis is that APN’s are necessary for ensuring that cost is less of healthcare organizations and the NGO are there to sort out problems of the patients who can not afford quality of care. The patients require care and insurance for their treatments. APN plays a vital role in this scenario.

Conclusion

Without APN the hospital can not run smoothly. It requires a lot of patience and sense of responsibility. The nurses’ practitioners should be strong enough to fight for the right si f the patients and provide care that is less in cost.
