The Informatics position in the improvement of patient care and operational efficiency is gaining prominence in the rapidly evolving healthcare setting. Informatics tools and systems must be familiar to one as a nurse in order to attain improved outcomes and care standards. The TANIC Self-Assessment has been an excellent journey of self-assessing my perceived capability in informatics and my strengths and weaknesses (Haupeltshofer et al., 2020). My score would be moderate with regard to my level of competence in informatics as a nurse.  One of my strong points is accurate and effective entry and control of patient information in our EHR system. I never leave behind any record of patient incomplete or out of date, which is very important in providing quality care and allowing any member of the health care team to easily communicate with one another.

 Another competency that I am good at is basic troubleshooting of the informatics systems. In a few cases of minor problems with EHRs or any other informatics tools (Kohn et al., 2021), I am generally able to recognize the issue and even resolve it in a limited period without making the clinical process a significant disruption. The competency helps in providing continuity in care and reducing the need to utilize the IT support to address technical problems that arise daily.

 The TANIC Self-Assessment indicated that I need to practice the use of sophisticated data analytical skills. I do not have strong data analytics tools knowledge to identify trends and patterns, and can make clinical decisions and improve patient outcomes, but I can understand the simple reports.

 The latest area of development is the knowledge and skills on how to contribute to the integration of varying informatics systems. This entails how different systems, such as EHRs, laboratory information systems, and radiology systems, can be integrated in a manner that would allow information to flow between the departments efficiently. Developing this competency would assist me in promoting the idea of interdisciplinary teams and making a positive contribution to the general healthcare delivery.

Among the applicable strategies to improve my competencies will be the enrolment in courses and workshops in health informatics and data analytics. These learning experiences will assist me in developing a vast amount of knowledge and hands-on experience in dealing with sophisticated data analytics tools and techniques (Kurtzke and Setkute, 2021), which I can apply in my professional life.

 The other way of developing my skills is to identify a mentor within a group of powerful informatics colleagues who may also become members of interdisciplinary teams. In contact with IT specialists and data analysts, I will be able to realize how to combine systems and apply advanced analytics to practice and familiarize myself with the best practices and new ways to apply informatics in healthcare.

 Health informatics has a variety of professional organizations, like the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), which offer continuing education programs, certifications, workshops, and other services that are specific to health informatics. These resources can offer systematized instructions in learning and robust credentials in the topic.

 There are courses on data analytics, informatics, and many others on such websites as Coursera, edX, and LinkedIn Learning (Raneem Rashad Saqr et al., 2023). These courses are normally designed by universities and industry gurus and offer quality and flexible learning opportunities that can be adapted to my time and learning speed.
