My name is Angela Hale, and I am a licensed social worker in this agency, [Agency Name]. Your presence here today is very pleasant. This is my first meeting with you, and I am pleased to see you here. However, I should assure you that you are as much at ease as practicable before coming in. This present interview also seeks to familiarize us with one another and to discuss the reason behind your bringing me here, what you expect to accomplish, and how I could possibly serve the best to you best. I still have some additional things to tell you that are relevant to confidentiality, informed consent, and how our sessions will take place, so that you can have a clear idea of what to expect.

Everything that we discuss during our meetings is confidential. However, there are certain legal and ethical constraints to confidentiality that I would like to point out to you (Memon et al., 2024). By the time you ever tell me that you are going to hurt yourself or somebody, or that I discover that a child, an adult, or a dependent adult is being ignored or abused, then I shall have an obligation to disclose the same to the relevant authorities to make sure that no one is hurt.

There is another exemption from these, though, which we discuss. You may also require that you know how it works out; this, too, is an informed consent. Sessions are not binding, and you will have the free will to initiate your sessions anytime as you desire to continue, have a break, or give up services. I hope that I will help, counsel, and empower you to make the most appropriate decisions that will fit you.

I have read the referral information and discussed with my supervisor our goals in the session before today in order to ensure that I am well prepared to assist you. I also made sure that this room is a personal, secure, and comfortable one to make sure that we are not distracted in serving your needs (Schneider, 2022). To get us off, I wish to beg some trivial information, like what has brought you to us today, what it is you are really worried about, and what you expect to accomplish by the close of our treatment. This causes me to develop a clear analysis and design of a particular action plan that fits your circumstances.

We also have administrative and ethical policies that are followed by our agency, which I will briefly discuss (Memon et al., 2024). All the meetings are made confidential and in detail so as to ensure that the records are secure. Should we be required to share any information with any other professional, we would review a release of information form and would be required to sign it. Regardless of the emergency, we still do not contact each other often, but we have contact procedures at hand, and I can inform you of how to reach the support.

We have about 10 minutes of our time today. I will conclude with a summary of our discussion before we part ways, and another appointment will be made.
