Since common appliances such as home automation appliances and industrial sensors are becoming connected and automated, the developers should consider the security factor during the design phase and not as an afterthought. Best coding practices, including input validation, encryption, and authentication guidelines, are necessary to avoid vulnerabilities that may be used by malicious users. Furthermore, the constant stream of information produced by IoT devices demands that developers set up powerful real-time tracking and update systems to reduce the threats posed by unauthorized access (Siraparaparapu & Azad, 2024). As a result, the development lifecycle has grown to place more focus on threat modelling, automated testing, and patch management to guarantee that the code is robust to changing cyber threats without losing its functionality and interoperability with a wide variety of platforms. At the management level, the use of IoT requires an increased level of care when it comes to the protection of organizational systems. Managers have the role of setting up governance policies that determine security measures, access controls, and periodic audits of devices to which they are connected. They should also promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness amongst the employees, and the possible risks associated with unprotected IoT devices and the necessity to adhere to security measures. As an instance, managers can use network segmentation and intrusion detection control to limit exposure and detect potentially suspicious activities in real time. Also, proactive planning of cybersecurity training and interdisciplinary cooperation with IT teams enables the managers to prevent aggression and ensure business continuity despite any threats (Colabianchi et al., 2025). The growth of IoT devices forces managers not only to be proactive but also dynamic towards their system security strategies, amalgamating technical management and organizational strategy.
